The Genesis
The prison camps located in North Korea were created sometime around the Korean War. The first satellite image released was around 2000. These inhumane prison camps were created with the intention of detaining and subduing political dissidents. The reasons for capturing the people of North Korea progressively widened and it was used for anything to suit the leaders. Annually, North Korea has a shortage of grain. Due to this level of shortage the government has to ration food. Another hypothesis has been that the government moves large numbers of people to the camps so food can be available to the elite few. So the North Korean prison camps are not only used for holding political rebels but are also used to manage economic issues. An example of just how hungry the people of North Korea are is described in the following quote. Park Ji-Hyun told a U.N. panel," The reality in north Korea is that people are so hungry they would eat from dog food and cattle feed left out at other peoples' houses".
